Angels & Demons was the bestselling novel of Dan Brown published in 2000 featuring fictional Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon and the quest of the Illuminati to destroy Vatican City using antimatter. Predecessor to Dan Brown’s bestseller The Da Vinci Code, Angels & Demons was released as a movie in 2009.
The story follows Landgon around Rome after the death of the Pope as he seeks to save a group of kidnapped cardinals believed to be the leading candidates at the papal conclave (the Prefereti) and prevent the destruction of Vatican City by the Illuminati using a stolen canister of antimatter.
